Breathtaking Cape Banks

Cape Banks Walking Track

From Kamay Botany Bay National Park to Cape Banks

Located in La Perouse, southeast Sydney, Kamay Botany Bay National Park is home to some of Sydney’s most beautiful coastal scenery.

Today, we take a walk from the entrance of the national park, following the scenic coastal trail all the way to Cape Banks.

Although it is not far from Sydney’s city centre, once you enter the walking track, the city gradually disappears behind you. In its place, you’ll find beautiful ocean views, rugged cliffs and natural coastal landscapes.

Starting from the park entrance, follow the trail slowly along the coast and enjoy the natural surroundings.

As you walk, glimpses of the blue ocean appear between the rocks and coastal vegetation. Bronze Rock is a great spot to pause for a moment and take in the ocean views and surrounding scenery.

Continuing along the trail, you reach the coastal section towards Henry Head. From here, you can enjoy wide views across Botany Bay and the Pacific Ocean. On a clear day, the views are especially spectacular.

After passing Henry Head, the trail continues towards Cruwee Cove. The peaceful combination of rocky coastline and blue water makes this a beautiful place to stop and enjoy the scenery.

And finally, you reach the highlight of today’s walk — Cape Banks.

As you approach Cape Banks, the rugged cliffs and dramatic sandstone formations become even more impressive. From Cape Banks, you can enjoy beautiful coastal views towards Cruwee Cove and Little Bay, while traces of the historic SS Minmi shipwreck can also be seen along the coastline.

During winter, Cape Banks is also a great place for whale watching, with opportunities to spot humpback whales and southern right whales as they migrate along the coast.

Take your time, listen to the sound of the waves, and enjoy one of Sydney’s beautiful coastal walks.
